Lewis: Future With Ravens 'Nobody Else's Business'

Oct 9, 2014 3:16 PM

Linebacker Ray Lewis will become an unrestricted free agent in less than a month unless the Ravens use the franchise tag on him or offer him a new deal. Lewis, very aware of his situation, doesn't think it's the business of anyone aside from him and the Baltimore organization. "What I'm thinking, nobody needs to know," said Lewis. "I've given my prayers to God. It's between me and him. It's nobody else's business. That's between me and God."

Jacobs Lobbies For Burress

Nov 4, 2014 11:00 AM

Brandon Jacobs wants to return to the Giants and he wants Plaxico Burress back as well. The free agent running back believes his teammate Burress has changed. ?Oh, no question,? Jacobs said. ?If I?m here, I need 17 back on that roster." Jacobs said he has talked to Burress frequently and texts him every other day. He said Burress is a ?different guy? since he shot himself back in November and ended up with season-ending suspension. Burress is also facing 3 ?-15 years in prison for carrying an unlicensed firearm in Manhattan, and a probable suspension from the NFL, too. ?He knows what happened to him,? Jacobs said. ?He knows he?s, No. 1, lucky to be living today, for how close he came. He realizes that and he realizes the golden opportunity he?s got in front of him to be able to take care of his wife and his kid. I talk to Plax every other day. We text back and forth. He?s still Plax. He?s still the same person. But he?s got a different swagger about himself. ?I think he?s changed. You won?t ever hear anything from Plaxico as far as any kind of trouble with ?team?. It?s all done. He?s finished. He?ll really be a different person.?

Jason Taylor Could End Up Back In Miami?

Nov 2, 2014 2:07 AM

The Redskins will approach Jason Taylor about reducing his $8.5 million salary, according to sources. Some believe he would even go back to Miami at a discount, according to Jason LaCanfora, if Bill Parcells would take him, to finish his career there. Regardless, coming back to Washington for half his salary seems unrealistic at this point.

Toomer Hints He Won't Return To Giants

Oct 31, 2014 10:28 AM

Amani Toomer spoke about his pending free agency for the first time on Wednesday, and it appears unlikely that he'll return to the Giants. The receiver is upset with the way he was phased out of the team's offense and isn't sure he'll re-sign with New York even if they make him an offer. "I definitely think that in the current situation I don't think I could go back," Toomer said. "It's a very touchy situation for me right now," he added. "I mean, it's hard not to get emotional just because I've been there so long. But I understand. I've seen it happen many, many times before to other players. It's part of the business. We have a disagreement. They have one opinion of me, I have another. When the relationship's good it's good, when it's not, it's not."

Sources: 'Paramaters' Of Haynesworth Deal Discussed

Sep 6, 2014 4:09 PM

Titans' GM Mike Reinfeldt and the agent for Albert Haynesworth reportedly spoke last Thursday, and "paramaters have been discussed" on a contract extension for the defensive tackle. However, the discussions shouldn't be considered "serious," according to a source. The Titans have said they want to retain Haynesworth, who played under the $7.25 million franchise tag last season.

Agent: Warner Will Listen To Offers

Nov 2, 2014 5:57 PM

Agent Mark Bartelstein says that quarterback Kurt Warner will look into all his options in free agency this offseason. "The Bears obviously have to figure out which direction they want to go with the quarterback thing," Bartelstein said. "It has, obviously, been a point of contention for quite a while. We have to wait and see what they decide they want to do." Chicago is one of a few teams that will be evaluating their quarterback position this spring. "We have talked about Kurt a couple of different times," Bartelstein said. "They felt like they had drafted [ Rex Grossman, in 2003] and they wanted to give [him] every chance to be successful. "I think teams are learning more and more that you can't ever assume that something is going to happen. You can never assume that someone is going to develop. Your window in free agency and contracts and injuries ... your window is so small now. So when you think you have a chance to win, you had better go try and do it."

Fitzgerald Willing To Take Less Money To Keep Boldin

May 12, 2014 8:18 AM

Larry Fitzgerald accepted a four-year, $40 million deal from Arizona last year when he could have made considerably more on the open market so he could leave the Cardinals cap space, and Fitzgerald would like to help the Cardinals again. Fitzgerald is willing to restructure his contract so that the Cardinals can redo Anquan Boldin?s and keep him in Arizona long-term. Boldin wants his deal redone and said during the season that he never would re-sign with Arizona again, but many around the league believe that as long as the Cardinals make a sufficient offer, then Boldin will agree to stay.

Suggs Suggests Trio Give Ravens A Discount

Oct 1, 2014 9:17 AM

Terrell Suggs has hinted that he and fellow defenders Ray Lewis and Bart Scott should give the Ravens a discount in order for the three to remain with the team. "We really don't want to play without one another because we've been playing together for so long," Suggs told Sirius NFL radio. Suggs, Lewis, and Scott can become unrestricted free agents at the end of February. "If they treat me fair, then it shouldn't be a problem. I have all the faith in the world that they'll do that. I think they'll address all three of us with what they see as fair. I think if all three of us can come in the middle and form an agreement, then we shouldn't have a problem," Suggs added.
